Whether you are well versed with the new Common Core State Standards or you are just learning about them, this site will provide you with a wide variety of resources to help you understand and incorporate the new standards. The resources shared on our site focus on the skills that Kindergarteners need to master by the end of the school year, provide options for using the Multiple Intelligences, provide a means for differentiation, as well as ways to help track student progress.
Teaching Channel has several information videos about the Common Core. A quick registration is required to view the videos, but is well worth it. Teaching Channel has videos, podcasts, and blogs on several topics including Common Core, assessment, differentiation, engagement, and behavior. In the Common Core video titled A View From 30,000 Feet, Sarah Brown Wessling explains the CCSS and gives insight on how to implement the core in the classroom. Wessling is a high school English teacher and was the 1210 National Teacher of the Year. The video provides a well rounded overview of the development of Common Core, the assessments being developed, and what CCSS looks like in the classroom. Teaching Channel has over 100 Common Core related videos. Many of the videos are filmed in actual classrooms allowing you to lesson in which CCSS has been incorporated into math, science, reading, and even a morning meeting.
Eudtopia is another educator website that has many Common Core resources available for teachers. Again, there is a quick registration to access the full website. Edutopia has links to news articles, Common Core resources, lesson sharing pages and research done by the Educational Policy Improvement Center (EPIC).
The menu on the left side of the screen has pages for lesson plan resources and literature resources. Both pages have a variety of links on them that will connect you to different websites, blogs, and video resources that will assist you in implementing the CCSS in your classroom.
